The champions of this year’s Best Kept War Memorial contest have been revealed, with Aviemore and Rothiemurchus branch scooping the keenly contested Champion of Champions award.

The branch also claimed the Small Community without Gardens prize, with an impressive score of 110.

Annan took home two prizes – National All and Best Improved – for Kirkpatrick Fleming Parish obelisk, while Wick, Canisbay and Latheron was recognised in the New Entry category for the Wick memorial.

In all, 73 memorials were entered into the annual awards, and the winners were presented with their trophies at New Haig House on 6 September. These presentations were made by the Lord Provost of Edinburgh and the newly-elected National Chair, David Boe. In addition to the ceremony, the attendees were also invited on a tour of the Lady Haig Poppy Factory.
