Latest Magazine Annual Fort William and District comradeship event a great success The value of comradeship within Legion Scotland cannot be overestimated, and so it was as the Fort William and District branch gathered for their annual social event on 9 August. Sixteen members and friends met for a day of activities, starting with a Chinese meal in Fort William, followed by a leisurely stroll along to the west end of the town to join an evening cruise. The boat ‘Donara’ took the group out towards Loch Eil at the head of Loch Linnhe, past the entrance to Corpach Sea Lock which leads onto the Caledonian Canal. The cruise skipper pointed out various points of interest to all the passengers. Unfortunately, as one member reports, “the weather did not get our memo (or just ignored it) about not raining”. As such, the views across Ben Nevis and beyond were hampered, but a good time was still had. The branch would like to take this opportunity to thank both the Edinburgh Head Office for its comradeship fund and the Highlands & Islands Area for their donations towards this event – it was much appreciated by all who attended.
