Elliot Thomson walks Camino de Santiago Donate I am Elliot Thomson, and I am the Veterans Community Support Co-ordinator for Glasgow, Ayrshire, Dumfries & Galloway Area. I support a range of Veterans in many ways, but my primally focus is combatting loneliness and isolation. I am Veteran having served 27 years and now that I have turned 60, I wanted to do something special, so I decided to go for a wee walk to raise some much-needed funds to help support our Veterans. I will complete the full Camino Frances (Way of St James) setting off from St Jean Pied de Port in the foothills of the Pyrenees on the the 23rd of April and finishing 481 miles later in Santiago de Compostela in May, this will take me around 40 days. On this journey I will be raising funds for Legion Scotland to help further the important work they do for veterans. These funds are vital in ensuring we can continue our fantastic hands on support service which can range from things as simple as going out for a cuppa and a chat or getting someone a hot meal to more complex support. Something as simple as a cuppa and a chat can have an enormous impact on someone’s wellbeing, and it is a nice way to thank them for their Service and help get back to a happy healthy life. I will let you know of my progress on Legion Scotland Facebook page. Thank you in advance for your donations. Jim Bryce Manage Cookie Preferences
